In 1927 Norman Vaughan was a member of Adm. Richard Byrd’s Antarctic expedition. Sixty-seven years later, 88-year-old Vaughn became the first person to reach the summit of Antarctica's 10,302-foot Mount Vaughan, named after him by Byrd.
