4Real : Peru

Brief Summary

In 4REAL Peru, host Sol Guy takes Cameron Diaz high into the Andes Mountains to meet medicine man and community leader Puma Singona. After settling in and adjusting to the 11,000-foot altitude, Puma takes them to Chinchero, his hometown. Puma's people are the Indigenous Peruvian Quechuas and their culture has been deeply affected by colonization and the strains of modern living. Puma's work both as a medicine man and youth leader focus on ensuring cultural pride and preservation. In the evening, Puma takes Sol and Cameron into the mountains where they will camp for the night and participate in a winter solstice ceremony. Beginning before sunrise, the ceremony focuses on offering gratitude for the past year. Cameron is overwhelmed by the ceremony, feeling emotional as she participates in the rituals. Traveling to Machu Picchu, the group explores the majestic site while also dodging the aggressive press. The next morning, Sol and Cameron rise early to watch the sun come up over the majestic ruins - and avoid the press. Puma shows Sol and Cameron the temples that are a strong part of his teachings.
