Hawaii
It’s no ordinary boat. The Hawaii Super Ferry will be the largest vessel of its kind ever built in the US – a floating city complete with shops, restaurants and enough storage space to park nearly 3000 cars. And size isn’t its only selling point. If this mammoth catamaran-style craft works, it will fly over water using a tenth of the fuel of a plane, while carrying four times as many passengers. But the waters of the Hawaiian archipelago are notoriously rough and past ferry lines have been swamped by local waves – which regularly reach 30 feet. How will this new super ferry stay afloat in these stormy seas?
