A year before the World Trade Centre attacks, National Geographic sent journalist Sebastian Junger (best known as the author of “The Perfect Storm”), world-renowned photographer Reza and a film crew to Afghanistan. In National Geographic’s AFGHANISTAN REVEALED, Junger and Reza profile the legendary resistance leader Ahmed Shah Massoud, ‘The Lion of Panjshir’ who was assassinated just two days before the September 11th terrorist attacks. His murder is widely believed to have been carried out by Osama bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda terrorist network.
